Editorial Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-10

This policy explains how tools get listed on AINovaTools, how we score them, and how commercial relationships are handled. It applies to every tool page, comparison, alternatives list, and report on this site.

How tools get listed

Tools reach us in three ways: our own research, public launch monitoring, and user submissions. Regardless of source, every candidate goes through the same review before publication. Submission (free or paid) does not guarantee listing.

The 100-point scoring system

Editors score each candidate across nine weighted dimensions:

DimensionWeightWhat we ask
Search demand20Is there real demand — brand, alternative, or use-case queries?
Audience fit15Does it serve developer, indie, growth, or creator workflows?
Freshness10Is it new, meaningfully updated, or in a growing category?
Differentiation15Can we add unique testing, data, or limitations beyond the vendor's site?
Documentation10Are the website, pricing, docs, and terms verifiable?
Credibility10Is the operator identifiable and the product stable?
Commercial intent10Do people compare, seek alternatives, or buy in this category?
Partnership potential5Is the founder reachable and open to collaboration?
Maintainability5Can we keep pricing and features verified at reasonable cost?

Thresholds: 80+ is priority listing; 65–79 enters the candidate pool; below 65 is not published.

Hard rejections

A tool is rejected regardless of score if any of the following applies:

  • The website is unreachable, permanently broken, or redirects maliciously.
  • Impersonation, cloned products, misleading pricing, or an unidentifiable operator.
  • Malware, illegal use cases, or clear privacy/IP violations.
  • Duplicate of an existing listing with no explainable unique value.
  • Pure affiliate/ad pages where the product cannot actually be used or verified.

Paid placements and disclosure

  • Payment never changes editorial judgment. Paid submission buys faster review, placement visibility, and analytics — never a better score, rating, or review conclusion.
  • Paid and affiliate links are marked with sponsored (or nofollow) attributes, in line with Google's spam policies on link schemes.
  • We do not require backlinks in exchange for listing, and we do not sell followed links.

Independence and updates

Editors have no financial stake in listed tools. Pricing and claims are verified against official sources (see Review Methodology), and pages display a Last verified date. Errors are handled through our Corrections process.
